Highly recommended private tour with Alejandro and Jose
I booked a private tour of Tulum and Coba ruins with Cool Cancun for July 28, 2026 for my boyfriend and myself. Alejandro and Jose were excited to pick us up promptly and were extremely accommodating. Jose did an excellent job o navigating while Alejandro briefes us about the trip. During the drive, Alejandro gave us an informative masterclass of the Mayan culture's ways of life along with visual aids to make the information come alive. He has an indepth understanding of the advanced recording, timekeeping and mathematical systems of the Mayan people. Alejandro showed us housing structures, temples and paintings. We were in awe of his wealth of experience and knowledge. He dialoged with us to answer all of our questions into the past and how it connects with the present. Through his eyes, we learned so much and it was apparent rhat his passion for teaching has lifted his learners to higher levels of understanding. He offered us to climb Nohoch Mul, one of the only preserved ruins that Cool Cancuns can access. We did so enthusiastically and he offered to record our photos for posterity. Alejandro was informative about the history of each ruin, specifically pointing out the development of the ball courts in Coba. We learned more in one session with Alejandro than I had learned in my previous trips to archeological sites combined. He was extremely fluent in English which we appreciated very much. We stopped for a buffet lunch at a wonderful restaurant in Coba. The cuisine and service were both excellent. I cannot thank Alejandro enough for the excellent tour and Jose for driving. This experience gives you knowledge and brings you back in time, in order to understand and to walk into the Mayan world!!! Gabriel gives out with passion, all the info about the Mayan culture and civilization. But please be careful on the Cénote!!!! I didn’t rent the locker and was a mistake. My things got misplaced from somebody. I thought that they were stolen and I asked for security. His name was Oscar. Me and two of his co workers we were calling his name and refused to come. After I called louder he came down there and he didn’t help me at all!!!!! I found my backpack to another place of where o left it but I was relieved that I did. But Oscar the security guy , not only he didn’t help but I found out later that he accused me to my travel guy that I was mental ill or I was taking grubs!!!! So please do not take your valuables down there!!! It’s dark and crowded and you won’t get any help from Oscar’s!! Other than this the tour will exceed your expectations

I highly recommend this experience! The staff was attentive and friendly. The total group was small so there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the sailing. The snorkeling was in a beautiful uncrowded environment and we were able to see coral, fish, sting rays and turtles. The lunch was plentiful and hit the spot after a morning of swimming. Ulysses, Arturo, and Angel were super fun, helpful and knowledgeable. They kept our glasses full. I read a lot of reviews before booking this trip, we did not want to be on a party boat with tons of people and this trip was perfect. They provided lots of special extras and we got lots of boat and snorklinh time. Exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend!!

Great tour, I can’t recommend them highly enough! We had a small group, just four of us. Ulises (?) was very helpful and patient with me in the water, since I hadn’t snorkeled before. The reef itself was like swimming in an aquarium. Angel and Arturo were awesome on the boat as we sailed back. I grew up sailing but live in Colorado now, and it felt so good to be back on the water. These guys are great if you can book them.

Amazing experience. The purification ceremony was unlike any other experience I have had before. The swim in the cenote following the ceremony was nice and gave us time to bond with others in the tour group. Dinner was delicious and I felt welcomed in the village.

Gabriel was terrific. we changed the scope of the trip to include Cenote enroute- no problem! Needed to stay on a tight schedule- no problem, he adapted the ruins tour to exactly the depth of experience the group wanted. The Cenote he recommended was not crowded. His depth of local knowledge and Mayan culture exceeded expectations. All that and a genuine warm personality!

Great tour of 2 sites: Coba was much more active (choice to bike through the site and climb) and Tulum was beautiful. Super convenient and comfortable to be picked up from our hotel and the van was well stocked with snacks. Guide and driver were both very friendly, knowledgeable and patient with the pace of my family that spanned the ages of 10-75.

This is one of the best most amazing underrated experiences I had during my stay in Tulum. If I'm being honest, I was quite skeptical due to some of the reviews but I'm glad I followed through with doing it. To start, our pick up was super easy as our meeting point was the Super Aki in Tulum town. Colin was so great at explaining what a Temazcal is and gave us such a great breakdown of what to expect. We picked up 3 other people and made our way to the Mayan village of Dos Palmas. The Mayan people there were so friendly and welcoming. There were other tours separate from ours that were there also. In total, there was about 30-40 participants. The shaman allowed time for the guides to translate what was happening during the whole process. Once inside the temazcal structure, the guides/shaman made sure to let us know if we werent feeling well and needed to exit, the process in doing that. They explainined it multiple times. It was such a beautiful and healing experience to say the least. You WILL sweat and it WILL get hot. It is all about breath work and staying calm and just focusing on whatever intention or relase you have intended for the experience. The cenote swin after was so nice and refreshing and a nice contrast of the hot steamy Temazcal. The dinner prepared by the Mayan women was very delicious. The locals do have a small shop of items that are handmade souvenirs so i'd recommend bringing money if you'd like to buy it from the locals.

As a solo traveler, having transportation set up was extremely helpful! Rosie messaged me as soon as my flight landed and shared a friendly picture. My driver, El, was also so kind and stopped at the Oxxo for me to pick up some water and snacks. All in all an easy and pleasant experience. I would definitely book with Cool Cancun again!
