Seriously, you can stop searching for tours now. We have been fortunate to go on many tours in different countries with our children. This was THE best. Paul is incredibly knowledgeable and hospitable. He was so accommodating and willing to change the itinerary as one of our children started to not feel well on the tour. He made sure that everyone was taken care of and we learned so much!Paul picked us up from our hotel lobby. He communicated clearly what we should bring with us and what he would bring. He was on time and let us know as he was approaching.It was an absolute pleasure to talk to Paul on the drive to Chichan Itza (which is not a short drive!). He is interesting and engaging. He gave us some relevant history and was able to answer our questions. He partners with a local guide at chichen itza who is brilliant. The other guides were all friendly and it is clear that he is well-liked by the broader community, which speaks to how he interacts with others. We took a long time here asking many questions and shopping with the local artists. Paul never rushed us and gave us as much time as we needed.We went to a fantastic lunch at a small roadside restaurant that was packed with locals (it was a local holiday the day that we went). He is friends with the cooks and one of my children was able to make tortillas with them.The cenote that we went to was great! Paul gave us the inside scoop so that we skipped lines and knew the best ways to have fun there. He tailored the choice of cenote to the interests of our family and the timing of our arrival to ensure the best experience.Our last stop was a town that we ended up not exploring much because one of our children started to not feel well. He adapted the schedule so that our son was more comfortable while making sure that we still got to try the amazing food there.Really, I can not say enough good things about this experience. As a professional researcher, I can assure you that you can stop searching now and just book!

Great trip! Spontaneous adaptation to our wishes was possible at short notice. Perfect smooth organization. We were traveling with 2 families, first in Coba, then Muyil and finally Sian Ka’an. An early start is recommended to avoid heat in Coba. Be sure to take the recommended bikes, you can get around better. The floating in nature reserve Sian Ka’an was certainly the highlight of our whole trip to Mexico! Incredibly clear water, with life jacket easily doable for all. Contrary to our initial feeling, the hot chocolate was the crowning achievement 😉 we would book with Paul again immediately. He knows all about it: Historical, fauna and flora, current development, no question remains unanswered! Thank you very much!!! Unfortunately, no more than 5stars are possible, we would give 10!!!

This was by far the best excursion we experienced during our two-week stay in Mexico. Our guide Paul made this tour truly special by taking us far away from the typical tourist crowds and showing us incredible wildlife, including many birds and monkeys in their natural habitat.The ride in the classic VW Beetle was a lot of fun and added a unique, authentic touch to the whole experience. We also enjoyed a delicious and truly local breakfast, which made the day even more memorable.Paul went above and beyond by capturing amazing photos and videos for us, giving us lasting memories of this wonderful day. To top it all off, the tour ended with snorkeling alongside turtles, where we were treated with great care and attention.We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic, personal, and unforgettable experience in Mexico!

If you are looking for an absolutely brilliant tour, where you end the day feeling fully educated about all thing Mayan, eating amazing food in the most beautiful locations, swimming in beautiful spots, whilst missing the crowds and with a tailor-made itinerary to meet your needs to boot, look no further. And what is more, with Paul, you will feel like you've gained a friend at the end of the day. I cannot recommend his tour in his BRILLIANT car highly enough. Paul sorted all the tickets and transport and all we had to do was turn up at the appointed time. He is a brilliant communicator, both before the trip when sorting details, and on the trip.

A fantastic day! Paul was very easy to deal with throughout, suggesting many options before we travelled to create a bespoke day. The day itself was amazing, and Paul's enthusiasm enhanced the experience. His flexibility meant that we could spend as much time as we wanted to at the sites and could explore things of interest to us whilst never feeling rushed. The day felt like a trip out with a friend, and we would recommend him to anyone and will book again should we come back to the Cancun region.

Paul exceeded our expectations in about every way. Was personable and knowledgeable, made it fun! Best tour ever!We had a big agenda and hit every stop and highlight. From seeing the magnificence and wonder of Chichen Itza, to taking fun/silly photos with my sisters, eating at hidden gems (he knows the best food places, I swear), taking a refreshing dip in a beautiful Cénote, stopped for a visit at the magical town of Vallodolid, ate some more, lol, and a adventurous trek up the pyramid at Ek Balam- all things we won’t ever forget.For the history lessons, the experiences, and making fun memories with my sisters- Paul and Senor Bug were ideal for our tour, I can’t say enough good things for the experience and hope to do it again, if I ever revisit the area.

We did a food tour with Paul and it was outstanding! Our first stop was a truly local restaurant. I would almost describe it as a “speak easy”. You enter a convenience store and go to the back and then go upstairs to a complete surprise! It was a fantastic setting right on the water. We enjoyed a beer and some of the best shrimp ceviche I ever tasted. 2nd stop was in the main square of Cancun. One again, it felt as though only locals were visiting this area. There was music, kids playing, and tons of food vendors. We had a dessert called a marquesita. It was delicious!! 3rd stop was in the crazy area near Congo Bongo. We had some tacos el pastor at a restaurant in this area. Although not my atmosphere, it was fun to people watch and experience a bit of the Cancun night life. Last stop was a seafood/taco restaurant further down in the Hotel Zone. We had fish empanadas and a cocktail. Another fantastic choice and a great way to end the evening. Paul’s tour does an amazing job, showing 4 different types of restaurants, all with a different vibe. He is a fun, knowledgeable person and also teaches you about the history of Cancun. Do not hesitate to book a tour with him!!

This was our 2nd day trip with Paul. We had enjoyed our trip to Chichen Itza with him so much that we asked him to devise a day for us around snorkelling with turtles. Our day included: - Manta Ray spotting in Puerto Morelos; - snorkelling with turtles at Akumal; - a beautiful, relaxing cenote with 4 pools; - detour through Playa del Carmen for hot chocolate and cake; - authentic, rustic Mexican lunch; - a jungle walk - highlight was seeing a troop of spider monkeys. Paul is friendly, professional, multilingual and very knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble for him and my husband and I and our 2 grown sons enjoyed both our days with him immensely and they made our holiday in Mexico worthwhile and memorable. Paul also took lots of photos which is a lovely added bonus. Book Paul for any trip and you will certainly not regret it.

Our day with Paul was phenomenal. I’m an over-planner and over-thinker, so I connected with Paul months ahead of our trip, and he engaged with me immediately and continued to be a resource for questions prior to us ever meeting!Everything from booking, pick up, the tour itself, and returning to the hotel was super smooth. Zero stress from point to point. The cost of the tour is 100% aligned with value.Our day with Paul was filled with history, cultural insights, humor, and yummy food we would not have discovered without him! Our group of four opted for the Chichen Itza, Cénote, and Valldolid day, and we are so glad we did! We certainly would have booked another day with him exploring other sites and areas if we were here longer!The four of us are the on the big and tall side, so we opted for the Mitsubishi Xpander vehicle over the VERY COOL VW Bug. The ride was comfortable and quiet.This adventure was without a doubt the highlight of our visit, and should we return, we will be seeing Paul again!

For our second stay at the lovely Secrets Maroma resort in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, we were seeking a unique and private excursion experience and Señor Travel Bug/Paul's name kept appearing in multiple Facebook groups. He came highly recommended and everyone who had been on one of his tours had a fantastic experience. We reached out to Paul about his Private VW Beetle Tour that included a trip to the Tulum ruins and a swimming with turtles experience, and he immediately put us at ease with his warm and engaging personality, his deep love and knowledge of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, and his willingness to work with us to shape a boutique excursion that was as fun for him as it was for us. Due to our concerns about the welfare of the sea turtles we opted to alter the tour and he offered to plan an a trip that started with a tour the Mayan ruins of the Coba Archeological Area. This included a climb to the top of the Nohoch Mul Pyramid, with a stunning view of the surrounding jungle canopy, and a bicycle ride through the site to see such stunning ruins such as the Pok Ta' Pok ball courts. We then drove to the Punta Laguna monkey sanctuary, where we encountered a small group of spider monkeys in their natural habitat, and it was definitely a highlight of the day! After stopping at a local restaurant for an incredible lunch, we continued on to the Nohoch Nah Chich cenote, where we swam in an underground cave system and encountered a bat colony living in the caves, among other stunning sights. All of this was framed by long drives to each site in a vintage VW Beetle, which was unbelievably fun. The vehicle itself definitely turned a lot of heads and numerous compliments were shouted as we passed locals in each village along the way.We can't say enough good things about the experience and Paul himself. We ended up spending 11.5 hours together in total and it seemed to pass in a flash. He is one of the nicest people we've met in our travels, and has a deep and broad knowledge of Mexican culture and history, is an avid photographer and birder, and a total mensch. He also continuously took stunning photos of us, animals, and the sites we toured, as well as multiple video clips that he edited together into a wonderful summation of our day, all of which he sent to us at the end of the day. HIGHLY recommended!

This will certainly be the best tour you ever take from Cancun because the guide, Paul, is obsessed with giving you the best possible experience in the time available, carefully finding out in advance what you would like to do (more time at Coba? No problem! Longer in the Cenote, of course! Fine dining lunch or Mexican street food - you choose) and subsequently delivering on that.Our first tour was of the cenotes - after some discussion as to how much swimming we wanted, how much activity and (critically) any issues with claustrophobia, darkness or bats (more later) we headed for the first cenote, a beautiful, open site with jump points and a zip line. After as much time as requested, we headed for lunch - an incredible local place hidden off the beaten track - and onto the next site, the inside cenote. Snorkeling through the caves, with stalagmites, fully equipped and carefully guided, was one of the best moments of the holiday - truly breathtaking. Then a journey home, stopping off for the best hot chocolate ever on the way back.When a tour was this good, we enquired about the availability of another! We had seen Chichen Itza before, but wanted to visit the other sites at Coba and Tulum, both of which are breathtaking. Again, Paul was perfectly attentive to our wants, checking the most suitable method of going around the sites - in our case on bicycle, although other options are available, and giving as many options as possible to make the day perfect.The Beetle was very much part of the charm for us. It of course does not have the airconditioning or legroom of a modern vehicle, but as Paul alerted us, his other vehicle, an Audi Q5, did! (Go with the Bug - you won’t regret it.)Overall, you choose how you spend your holiday time. If you don’t want to waste a minute, get to see the things you want, eat at places you like, and have a bespoke experience speak to Senor Travel Bug. If you would rather save a few dollars to sit on a bus with 50 other people, spending an hour on hotel pickups/drop offs and get a bland bored guide feel free. But this tour provides everything. Even amazing photos of the day and a brilliantly edited video of your tour waiting in your inbox the following day.Our guide Paul was incredible, his passion for people and Mexico, his desire to please those on tour, the little extra touches are amazing. A truly outstanding tour that should be anyone’s first choice on holiday in Cancun and the surrounding area.

From start to finish Paul was an excellent host. I asked and he delivered. Paul shared his knowledge; so a great learning experience also. Even though it was a long day, I had the best time. He accommodated my requests on many issues. I highly recommend Paul as a tour guide. The pictures and video is an extra bonus especially as a solo traveller. Go ahead and book a tour with Paul.
