Beto (Alberto) was a fantastic tour guide from the moment we boarded the bus to travel to Chitzen Itza. Our family learnt a great deal about Mayan culture from Beto from the ruins to the rituals of the Mayan people. We are still researching aspects of Chitzen Itza to learn more as he sparked great interest in our boys. The restaurant and Mayan store was brilliant and we were very happy to have the opportunity to ensure the local community had our custom as opposed to the usual commercialised enterprises. The cenote swim was our first and a great way to cool down! The village of Valadolid was beautiful and we loved buying Mayan chocolate, again, direct from the local community. Overall, a fantastic trip and Beto (and team) was superb!

This is an all day trip due to the distance from Cancun/Riviera maya but we'll worth it. Spectacular fresh water lake that looks like the ocean. Crystal clear water and zero seaweed. It is not crowded which is hard to believe with how beautiful it is. Seems to be more of a locals place.

Highly recommended private tour with Alejandro and Jose
I booked a private tour of Tulum and Coba ruins with Cool Cancun for July 28, 2026 for my boyfriend and myself. Alejandro and Jose were excited to pick us up promptly and were extremely accommodating. Jose did an excellent job o navigating while Alejandro briefes us about the trip. During the drive, Alejandro gave us an informative masterclass of the Mayan culture's ways of life along with visual aids to make the information come alive. He has an indepth understanding of the advanced recording, timekeeping and mathematical systems of the Mayan people. Alejandro showed us housing structures, temples and paintings. We were in awe of his wealth of experience and knowledge. He dialoged with us to answer all of our questions into the past and how it connects with the present. Through his eyes, we learned so much and it was apparent rhat his passion for teaching has lifted his learners to higher levels of understanding. He offered us to climb Nohoch Mul, one of the only preserved ruins that Cool Cancuns can access. We did so enthusiastically and he offered to record our photos for posterity. Alejandro was informative about the history of each ruin, specifically pointing out the development of the ball courts in Coba. We learned more in one session with Alejandro than I had learned in my previous trips to archeological sites combined. He was extremely fluent in English which we appreciated very much. We stopped for a buffet lunch at a wonderful restaurant in Coba. The cuisine and service were both excellent. I cannot thank Alejandro enough for the excellent tour and Jose for driving. An absolutely recommended experience. The Mayan ruins of Ek Balam are impressive, both for their historical value and for the excellent state of preservation in which they are found. Being able to tour them surrounded by such well-preserved nature makes the visit even more special.Our guide, Fernando, deserves a special mention; he was a true 10. His explanations were clear, enjoyable, and very complete, conveying Mayan history and culture with great passion and knowledge. Thanks to him, the visit was much more enriching.Without a doubt, one of the best tours we have done in the Riviera Maya. Totally recommended!

This was truly one of the most beautiful excursions we had during our trip. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and incredibly enjoyable.The day began with a punctual hotel pickup in Akumal by our guide Carlos, who gave us a very warm welcome. From the very beginning, he made us feel comfortable and set the tone for a fantastic day.Our first stop was Tulum, followed by Cobá, where we were transported by bicycle rickshaws – such a fun and unique experience! After that, we continued to the stunning Cenote Ik Kil, where we had plenty of free time to swim and enjoy a relaxing lunch.The highlight of the trip was, of course, Chichén Itzá. It’s an absolutely impressive and fascinating site. Carlos made the entire experience even better with his engaging storytelling, deep knowledge, and great sense of humor. He explained everything in a very interesting way and always made sure everyone felt included and comfortable.Overall, this tour was an unforgettable experience and we learned so much about the Mayan culture. We can highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
