Overview
Why diving in cenotes is one of the best experiences?
Cenotes are only found in this part of the world, and this is due to the fact that the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago impacted the Yucatan Peninsula, giving rise to the formation of underground rivers with totally crystal clear water.
In addition, the magical world of cenotes offers us to observe incredible ancient formations, such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and various speleothems that will make you feel like you are on another planet!
Fossilized corals and animals give this experience a unique archaeological setting.
The ultraviolet rays of the sun penetrate the entrances of the cave, forming amazing light effects on the water!
As if all this were not enough, the Mayans gave this experience a highly mystical and magical context.

What To Expect
One day before the experience we will finalize details, we will ask you for your equipment sizes, we will coordinate the meeting place and time (8 - 9 am).
On the day of the dive, we will meet at the school and our vehicle will be ready with all the equipment to go to the cenote.
During the trip, our guide will tell you all the history and mystique behind the cenotes!
Diving in cenotes is different. The guide will give you tips and recommendations so that you can fully enjoy your immersion in the Mayan underworld!
Once in the cenote, we will take a walk through the facilities and entry points to the cenote, here you will have free time to take photos and even swim in the cenote if you want!
After the briefing we will be ready for our first dive!
Once the first dive is over, we will have time for lunch and rest for a while before our second dive.
Remember that in our vehicle there will be all the time available: refreshments, snacks, fruits and sandwiches! You can drink or eat whenever you want!

Yes, we allow pregnant women to go on snorkeling. However, it’s crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before doing so to assess your individual health and pregnancy stage.
Jan 2022Yes, this is possible, as long as you are comfortable going into the water. All Cool Cancun snorkeling tours adhere to strict safety regulations and have been designed to be enjoyed by all.
Your safety is our #1 priority, which is why:
- You will be wearing a flotation device at all times.
- On many tours, there is a stairway from the boat into the water so you won’t have to “jump” in!
- There are trained staff in the water and watching from the boat at all times.
For these reasons, we believe that even non-swimmers can have a wonderful time on our snorkeling trips, however, the final judgment call is yours to make. Please note we do not give refunds if you decide not to snorkel on the trip.
Oct 2021The snorkel gear we use on Cool Cancun tours is high quality and for your protection, the equipment is sanitized after each use. However, if you feel more comfortable using your own snorkeling equipment, feel free to bring it on the tour. Please note, there is no discount for providing your own equipment and we can’t be responsible for any lost or damaged items.

The main concern with scuba diving and flying is decompression sickness (DCS). Your body needs adequate time during an ascent to off-gas excess nitrogen, or you can form bubbles in your bloodstream, possibly leading to DCS.
Jun 2024First-time snorkelers can be assured of one-on-one instruction and assistance. We find introducing folks to our world very rewarding!
Oct 2021There are no legal age limits for snorkeling. We have found that age 5 or 6 is a good age to learn the basics of snorkeling, however, it’s entirely up to individuals to make the best choice for their family.
